Carol Bowie

The work is figurative, sometimes described as introspective, "edgy". Her stylistic vision is broad, inspired by the various materials she employs in her "creative play" which include but not limited to painting, mixed media, printmaking and clay sculpture. The theme of Bowie's work, the female condition, has a universal quality, infused with an emotional content where she filters images through her contemporary perspective, coupled with her base instincts. The work tends to be a "free and spontaneous playing" for the most part, allowing for some "creative magic."
Bowie was honored to receive The Gail Rich Award, 2000, and Distinguished Artist of the Year, 2001. Widely collected, nationally and abroad, she has been an Open Studio artist for almost 20 years.
